A friendly, colorful one-page presentation to help users start with Ledger hardware wallets — secure setup, recovery best practices, and next steps.

Welcome — what is Ledger?

Ledger is a hardware wallet solution that stores private keys offline, giving you a secure way to manage cryptocurrency holdings. Ledger devices like the Nano family keep your assets safe by isolating sensitive data from internet-connected devices.

Step 1 — Unbox & verify

1

Unbox with care. Confirm the packaging seal and tamper-evident stickers. If anything looks altered, do not proceed — contact Ledger support immediately.

Tip: Always buy directly from Ledger or an authorized reseller.

Step 2 — Initialize the device

2

Power up the device and follow on-screen instructions to create a new wallet. Choose a PIN code you can remember but that is not easily guessable. Write your recovery phrase on the supplied recovery sheet — never store it digitally.

  • Good practice Use a PIN of 6+ digits and avoid sequential or repeated numbers.
  • Secure storage Store the recovery phrase in multiple physical locations (e.g., a safe, a lockbox).

Step 3 — Connect to Ledger Live

3

Download Ledger Live from Ledger.com and install it on your desktop or mobile device. Ledger Live is the official companion app used to manage accounts, install apps on your Ledger device, and perform transactions.

Always verify the website URL and the app signature where possible.

Advanced tips — security & recovery

Consider using a metal backup for your recovery phrase to protect against fire, water, and degradation. Use passphrase features only if you understand the increased complexity — passphrases act as an additional secret and losing them can make funds irrecoverable.

Troubleshooting & support

If you run into issues: 1) Reboot the device 2) Confirm firmware is up to date using Ledger Live 3) Contact official support if problems persist. Beware of phishing — Ledger support will never ask for your recovery phrase.
